Local Currency

This is a picture of some of the money used here. The top is a 10,000 cfa, it is worth about $20. The next two are the front and back of a 2,000 cfa, it is worth about $4. I also wanted you to see the phone cards we buy in order to recharge our cell phones. The service we use is called Orange, but is pronounced the French way. It is always sketchy service, so we say the, “Orange is not very good today”. It is a pain because you run out of minutes so quickly we are always trying to figure out who has enough credit to make a call. You can’t see them very well, but there are coins used here too. The increments are 500, 100, 50, 25, 10, 5. The 5’s are tiny and usually bright and shiny as they aren’t really used, most time things get rounded up here, or you might not get the small change back. I am not sure if that is because we are foreigners?!?
