Not So Smart After All
Ahhh.... I thought I was so clever putting everything in plastic tubs. I thought I would be able to reuse them and store things so no roaches would get in. I thought I would then send them back to the US with all kinds of wonderful African art, and fabrics, and dust collectors. I thought I would be able to say that these containers have been to another continent and store Christmas decorations in them later on, when I can hit the day after Christmas sales again.
I thought wrong.
As you can see, they barely made the trip. Despite how they look, nothing inside them was damaged. In all, we sent 22 plastic bins, and 7 cardboard boxes of various sizes. Amazingly it all made it. The lids now flip up the other way. The bottoms are all fine and I now have a lot of laundry baskets. I think they all melted a bit. I haven't found the chocolate chips I sent yet, but I am sure my maid can make something with a 2 pound lump of semi-sweet chocolate.
The amazing thing is how strong the sent of the soaps and lotions are. My classroom is where we are keeping them until we drive them home and the soap smell makes my eyes water a bit. Well, so does most of the body odor here, so I guess I will take the soap smell.
